Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council to Promote Career Development Opportunities for UAE Nationals at Tawdheef 2010


In its ongoing efforts to promote suitable Emirati talent for key positions, Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), the agency responsible for the future of Abu Dhabi's urban environment is all set to introduce unique career development programmes for UAE Nationals at the upcoming 2010 edition of Tawdheef, Abu Dhabi's leading recruitment and training event.

Tawdheef 2010, which will be organised from February 2 - 4 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), will witness strong presence from UPC, which similar to its previous participations will be hosting an interactive stand wherein UPC's human resources personnel will disseminate career related information to visitors and students. The UPC representatives will also brief the visitors regarding UPC's strategic role in the urban development of Abu Dhabi and the creation of its sustainability initiative, Estidama under the ambit of Vision 2030, by means of sophisticated presentation tools.

He further added "I am confident that our presence at the event will not only serve be an excellent platform for talented Emiratis to explore several favourable career opportunities but would also give us the opportunity to present the urban future of Abu Dhabi, of which they too can become an integral part".

Tawdheef 2010, which is the fourth edition of the event, is expected to bring together governmental and semi-governmental departments along with leading organisations in the banking, construction, education, trading, services and recruitment sectors.

Apart from providing a unique opportunity for potential candidates to explore suitable career options with the region's industry leaders, Tawdheef 2010 is also expected to provide a platform for encouraging investment in recruitment and training segment.

The UPC with its presence at Tawdheef 2010 will adopt a more focussed approach to attract Emirati talent in different disciplines like Architecture, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Geographical Information System (GIS), Information Technology (IT) and Business Administration. In order to implement this effectively, the UPC will be accepting curriculum vitaes' at the event and will also be conducting certain preliminary round of interviews.

Based on the increasing demand for qualified professionals in the urban planning sector, the UPC has in the last two years grown in strength to over 150 employees. Much of this growth can be attributed to the introduction of key urban development masterplans and frameworks including Capital District, Capital 2030 and Plan Al Ain 2030. In the process, the UPC has groomed a new generation of urban planners, who are able to discern their community needs.
