Corniche Beach Development

The Corniche Project is a long-term program led by key government authorities that aims to activate and enhance segments of the abundant 8km stretch of manicured waterfront landscape by providing clusters of services and activities, in line with the vision of Plan Abu Dhabi 2030 and its guiding principles.

The Abu Dhabi Public Beach initiative, which is a component of Corniche beach development plan, is a project designed to take effect over the course of a couple of years in a phased manner.

The completion of the enhancements on the Abu Dhabi Public Beach will be marked with the launch of Yasalam, a roster of exciting activities and events planned around, and leading up to, the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix.

At the conclusion of the Yasalam event line-up, the Abu Dhabi Public Beach will welcome beach-goers to experience and enjoy the new services and amenities that the public beach will offer.

In line with the planned activation strategy for the Abu Dhabi Public Beach, the phased programme has been strategically scheduled during the hot summer months when the usage of the beach is at its lowest to minimize any impact on beach-goers and the general community.

The planned improvements will ensure that the Corniche provides comprehensive recreation and leisure opportunities for the entire Abu Dhabi community. It will create a sense of place by providing family oriented experiences with a beach boardwalk and facilities for cycling and sports, beach football and volleyball, skateboarding as well as other leisure and entertainment activities while implementing cultural and environmental activities and promotions.

The majority of the new outlets will be present for the first time in Abu Dhabi and will provide visitors new choices of distinct local and international flavors and the opportunity to dine outdoors and enjoy the unique Corniche beach amenities and views, just as they would at a luxury resort.

A new array of affordable, quality retail and food & beverage outlets will offer choices of local and international flavours and will be easily accessible all along the public beach and the Corniche gardens along with new outdoor decks, which will provide breathtaking views of the waterfront where people will be able to lounge and dine as well.

In order to comprehensively accommodate visitor vehicles, additional parking facilities at the Corniche (opposite the Public Beach), complemented with a convenient park and ride service with stops at each of the 6 entry points into the Abu Dhabi Public Beach will also be made available.

A number of influences such as cultural, environmental and aesthetic are shaping Abu Dhabi's urban design framework and will allow people to contribute in the development of the City and the overall vision of Plan Abu Dhabi 2030.

  • New outdoor decks providing breathtaking views of the waterfront where people can lounge and dine.
  • A new beach boardwalk stretching the entire length of the public beach.
  • Beach rental services including beach beds, umbrellas, cabanas, etc.
  • Additional parking facilities at the Corniche (opposite the Public Beach), complemented with a convenient park and ride service with stops at each of the 6 entry points into the Abu Dhabi Public Beach.
  • Enhancements at the 4 primary intersections opposite the Abu Dhabi Public Beach enabling safe and convenient pedestrian access to the destination.
